この版について

A complete edition of the surviving works of Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 BC), translated chronologically in a single voice and built as a public-facing scholarly apparatus.

This translation was produced from the original by Claude (Anthropic) to the best of its ability. It has not been reviewed by a human translator.

収録内容

Every speech, every letter, every philosophical and rhetorical treatise that survives — 1 works in all — translated from the Latin and presented chronologically, the way Cicero lived them. Each work carries a headnote setting the historical scene, an optional Latin-parallel toggle for the reader who wants to compare, and an apparatus of cross-references, allusions, named-entity glossary, and Greek phrases that links the corpus to itself and to its sources.

原文から

Every translation was produced by reading the Latin text directly, not by copying or adapting any prior edition. The Latin comes from open scholarly sources: the Perseus Digital Library (canonical text for most of the corpus), the Latin Library (fallback and verification), and IntraText (for the Aratea).

使い方

The Works index groups everything by category and, for letters, by collection book — expand a section to browse. The chronology walks the same material as a timeline of Cicero's life. The Letters view shows the correspondence as a network: who was writing to whom, and when. The glossary is the project's named-entity registry. The Greek page catalogues every Greek phrase Cicero quotes, with its meaning and the letter it sits in. Search spans the full corpus.
