The thirty-five voting tribes that constituted the Roman citizen body in the tribal assembly. Cicero scorns the inscription making Lucius Antonius 'patron of the thirty-five tribes,' i.e. of the whole Roman people.

The thirty-five voting tribes made up the whole Roman citizen body. The inscription claiming Lucius Antonius as their "patron" effectively makes him patron of the entire people, a pretension Cicero ridicules.
