Dynast of Derbe in Lycaonia (south-central Asia Minor), bound to Cicero by guest-friendship and the closest familiarity. Q. Marcius Philippus had become violently angry with him and held his sons in his power; Cicero pleads for the sons in Fam. 13.73 (mid-40s BC).

Antipater was the dynast of Derbe in Lycaonia, in the interior of southern Asia Minor. Hospitium (guest-friendship) was a formal, hereditary bond of mutual hospitality and obligation between Romans and foreign notables, here reinforced by personal intimacy.
