Reading notes
- Ad Familiares 10.29 §1 in the greatest matter I have done it already and laid the foundations of your safety
A note of intercession: the younger Appius Claudius Pulcher had been compromised by his association with Antony, and Cicero is using his standing in the Senate of 43 to shield him from prosecution and secure his recall.
- Ad Familiares 11.22 §1 Appius Claudius, son of Gaius
A young patrician of the Claudii Pulchri whom Cicero commends to Decimus Brutus; the filiation "son of Gaius" (Latin C. f.) is the standard Roman way of identifying a man by his father's first name.
