Astyanax
also: Astyanax
A notably tall tragic actor of the mid-first century BC; Cicero jokes that the diminutive Antiphon, playing in the Andromacha, was 'taller than Astyanax' (Att. 4.15.6).
Reading notes
- Ad Atticum 4.15 §6 he was taller than Astyanax
A joke at the expense of the tiny Antiphon: in Ennius's tragedy Andromacha he towered over Astyanax (the child of Hector), but Astyanax was also the stage-name of a famously tall tragic actor of the day.
