The praetor and jurist (d. c. 44 BC) presiding as iudex in Pro Quinctio; a celebrated authority on civil law, author of the actio de dolo malo.

Ad Atticum 1.1 §1 that judicial kingship of his
Aquilius Gallus was the leading jurist of the day; his unrivalled authority in the courts (regnum iudiciale) gave him a pretext for declining a consular bid. The phrase is half-admiring, half-mocking.
