Gaius Cassius of Parma, poet and one of Caesar's assassins; quaestor/proquaestor with the Liberators' eastern fleet in 43 BC and sender of Ad Familiares 12.13. Frequently confused in the manuscripts with the more famous C. Cassius Longinus. The last of the conspirators to die, executed on Octavian's orders after Actium (30 BC).

The sender is C. Cassius Parmensis (the poet and tyrannicide), not Cassius Longinus, with whom the manuscripts confuse him; "Q." abbreviates quaestor, his rank with the eastern fleet. S. D. is salutem dicit, "sends greetings."
