A protege for whom Cicero sought a military tribunate under Caesar in Gaul in 54 BC; Caesar granted it by name. Probably the partisan later prominent as a keen Caesarian. Identification of the praenomen is conjectural.

Curtius (Postumus) was a war-eager Caesarian whom Cicero had earlier patronised; the thought of having to sit with such men in a Caesar-dominated Senate is what makes staying in Italy intolerable. The Senate-house (curia) stands for the whole compromised political order Cicero would have to rejoin.

An ironic complaint about the times: even an obscure Caesarian like Curtius can now contemplate the supreme magistracy. Under Caesar's dictatorship the consulship had lost its old competitive prestige.
