Roman citizen described by Cicero as his cliens; exiled at some point and during his exile granted Patraean citizenship, under which he adopted the son of Lyso of Patrae, thereby creating a disputed inheritance case requiring Servius Sulpicius's oversight as proconsul (Fam. 13.19).

Maenius Gemellus was a Roman citizen exiled (perhaps under Sulla or by Caesarian decree) who took Patraean citizenship during his exile --- a Roman colonist city could absorb such persons. He then adopted Lyso's son under local law, entangling Roman inheritance rights with Greek civic adoption procedures, which explains why the case needed a proconsul's oversight.
