A man of Cales, friend of Cicero and intimate of Q. Paconius Lepta, who went to Spain with M. Varro to avoid the civil war but was caught in the renewed Spanish war of 46-45 BC; Cicero commends him to Dolabella (Fam. 9.13).

C. Subernius, a man of Cales and friend of Cicero's intimate Lepta, had gone to Spain in the entourage of the polymath M. Terentius Varro (Pompey's legate there) hoping it would be a safe, war-free province; instead he was trapped when fighting flared up again in 46-45 BC.
