Equestrian Roman businessman on intimate terms with Cicero. In 46 BC he had commercial interests in Sicily managed by three freedmen (Hilarus, Antigonus, Demostratus). Cicero recommends him warmly to the proconsul M'. Acilius Glabrio (Fam. 13.33).

Roman businessmen routinely managed provincial operations through freed slaves acting as procuratores (agents). The Greek names — Hilarus, Antigonus, Demostratus — are typical of the freedman class and reflect the Greek-speaking eastern slave market from which household staff were drawn.
