Close friend and follower of Socrates, present at his death. Cicero cites Socrates's dream told to Crito of fair Phthia, and the eye-injury Crito suffered after ignoring Socrates's warning.

From Plato's Phaedo (115c-e): Socrates teases his friend Crito, who has not grasped that the real Socrates will 'fly away' and that only the body remains to be buried. Cicero introduces with it his discussion of indifference to burial.
