Roman senator, consul 62 BC (with L. Licinius Murena), husband of Servilia; in 63 BC, as consul-designate, he spoke first in the Senate for the death penalty against the Catilinarians. At Att 1.1.2 (65 BC) Cicero reckons him a weak candidate contending with Thermus. Distinct from M. Iunius Silanus of 43 BC (person:m-iunius-silanus).
