Reading notes
- Tusculan Disputations §1.15 the maxim of Epicharmus
Epicharmus of Syracuse, the early-fifth-century comic poet famed for pithy sayings. The maxim 'I have no wish to die, but being dead I count as nothing' becomes a touchstone of the dialogue's argument that death itself is no evil.
