An Epicurean philosopher, pupil of Epicurus, who succeeded him as head of the Garden. Cicero names him with Epicurus and Metrodorus among those who attacked earlier philosophers.

Hermarchus of Mytilene was Epicurus's chosen successor as head of the school. The opening of Epicurus's deathbed letter is addressed to him; in it the dying philosopher entrusts him with the care of Metrodorus's children.
