A legate of Quintus Cicero in the province of Asia (c. 61-59 BC), foremost among the staff in rank, dignity, and age; a writer of history (annales). Distinct from the Stoic Q. Aelius Tubero of De Re Publica.

Tubero, the senior legate, was an author of annales (year-by-year history); Cicero jokes that he can find models to imitate in his own pages. (This L. Aelius Tubero is distinct from the Stoic Q. Aelius Tubero of De Re Publica.)

Quintus Aelius Tubero was a nephew of Scipio Aemilianus and himself a Stoic; Panaetius addressed to him a work on the endurance of pain. Cicero argues that Panaetius pointedly failed to assert the bald Stoic thesis that pain is no evil.
