Lucius Flavius

L. Flavius, a Roman knight of weight, who deposed at the first hearing of the Verres trial concerning the beheading of Herennius the African banker (Verr. 2.1.14); the same equestrian figure recurs in connection with several Sicilian outrages (Verr. 2.5.15). Probably the same L. Flavius later praetor in 58 BC.

Lucius Flavius, brother of Gaius Flavius, is otherwise unknown but is noted in the entity index (person:l-flavius-eques); the brothers appear to be a well-connected equestrian family with business interests in Sicily under the proconsul's jurisdiction.

L. Flavius, designated praetor for 58 BC, had inherited the estate of L. Octavius Naso; Quintus's instructions to provincial procurators about the estate (favouring the creditor Fundanius) seemed to Cicero an abuse of a governor's authority over private suits.
