Licinia the Vestal

also: Licinia, Licinia daughter of Gaius

A Vestal virgin of the highest birth who in 123 BC dedicated an altar, shrine, and couch beneath the Rock; on the Senate's order the pontifex maximus P. Mucius Scaevola ruled the dedication void as made without the people's authority. Cicero cites the precedent against Clodius's consecration.
