A man called by Quintus Cicero a plagiarius (kidnapper/slave-stealer) in Asia, accused with his son of extorting the tribute; Quintus's letter ordering both burnt alive scandalised Cicero (Q.fr 1.2).

Latin plagiarius means a kidnapper or stealer of slaves and free persons, a capital offence under the lex Fabia. Quintus's letter jokingly demanding the man be burnt alive struck Cicero as dangerously intemperate in writing.
