A person involved in some public affair (the 'Matrinius business') that made Caelius's reputation famous even across the Taurus mountains (Fam. 2.15, 50 BC); details are otherwise lost. Possibly distinct from person:c-matrinius-eques (the Verrines equestrian Matrinius), though the identification cannot be ruled out.
