• Ad Atticum 12.52 §2 that Spinther has divorced his wife

  P. Cornelius Lentulus Spinther the younger divorced his wife Metella in 45 BC amid a scandal; Cicero relays the gossip with detached curiosity. He is the son of the consul of 57, not the consul himself.

• Ad Atticum 13.7 §1 Lentulus had definitely divorced Metella

  P. Cornelius Lentulus Spinther the younger; his divorce from his wife Metella is reported as the latest piece of Roman gossip. Metella herself cannot be matched to a registered entity and is left untagged.

• Ad Atticum 13.10 §3 I am waiting for Spinther

  Publius Cornelius Lentulus Spinther the younger, son of the consul of 57 BC and an associate of Brutus, here acting as Brutus's courier to Cicero. Not to be confused with his father.

  P. Cornelius Lentulus Spinther the younger, the recipient's son, then in his teens; Cicero commends his promise and urges that he be educated above all by imitation of his father.

  A cena auguralis, the lavish banquet a newly co-opted member of the college of augurs gave to mark his inauguration. The host is conventionally identified as P. Cornelius Lentulus Spinther the younger.

• Ad Familiares 12.14 §1 LENTVLVS CICERONI SVO S. P. D.

  The sender is P. Cornelius Lentulus Spinther the younger, proquaestor pro praetore of Asia (the son, not his father the consul of 57). S. P. D. is salutem plurimam dicit, "sends warmest greetings."

  A formal official dispatch: P. Lentulus son of Publius (P. F.), proquaestor pro praetore (PROQ. PROPR.), "sends greetings" (S. D.) to the consuls (COSS.), praetors (PR.), tribunes of the plebs (TR. PL.), the Senate, and the Roman People and Plebs. This is the archaic full address of a magistrate reporting to the whole state.
