Q. Lollius

Q. Lollius, an esteemed Roman knight, hindered by age and disease from attending the trial; he resisted Apronius's tithe-extortions at Aetna trusting in his equestrian standing (Verr. 2.3.61-63). The episode is one of Cicero's set-pieces on Verres's treatment of the equestrian order.

Q. Lollius, an esteemed Roman knight; Cicero met him after his ordeal and heard the story directly. His son Q. Lollius the younger had earlier prosecuted Calidius and was killed on his way to Sicily, ostensibly by runaway slaves, in fact (Cicero says) by Verres's agents.
