the Sibyl
also: Sibylla, Sibyllam, Sibylla Erythraea, Erythraean Sibyl
The inspired prophetess (notably the Erythraean Sibyl) whose verses underlay the Roman Sibylline Books; Cicero says it was the force of nature that roused her, and lists her among natural, frenzied diviners (De Divinatione 1.4, 1.34, 1.79).
