Sopatrum proagorum

Sopater, the proagorus (chief magistrate) of Tyndaris, witness against Verres to the carrying-off of the Mercury statue; he was lashed to the public statue in the forum until the city's senate broke down and surrendered the image (Verr. 2.4.85-92). Distinct from Sopater of Halicyae.
