Stesichorus
also: Stesichori
Stesichorus of Himera (c. 632-555 BC), the great choral lyric poet of Magna Graecia; statuary representations of him stood in his native city. Verres carried off the bronze statue of the poet from Thermae Himeraeae (Verr. 2.2.87). One of the canonical lyric poets cited in Cicero's philosophical works (Cato mai. 23).
