• On the Ends of Good and Evil §1.8 the Albucius whom Scaevola, when praetor at Athens, greeted accordingly

  Titus Albucius was a Roman so devoted to Greek culture that the praetor Q. Mucius Scaevola mockingly addressed him in Greek. The anecdote, preserved by Lucilius, lampoons excessive Hellenophilia.

• Tusculan Disputations §5.108 Titus Albucius

  Titus Albucius, a thoroughly Hellenized Roman Epicurean who, convicted of extortion, lived contentedly in exile philosophizing at Athens. Cicero notes that his ruin could have been avoided had he kept out of public life as Epicurus advised.
