A learned Greek of Cnidus, friend and favourite of Julius Caesar, who used his influence to obtain benefits for his city and for clients. In Q.fr 2.10 Cicero notes he will satisfy Theopompus over the Commagene business. Distinct from the historian Theopompus of Chios (person:theopompus).
