A contractor (manceps) under whose name money had been provided to Cicero in Cilicia, with Valerian sureties (praedes Valeriani) bound for it; the obligation could not be transferred to Volusius (Fam. 5.20, 49 BC). Otherwise unknown.

Praedes Valeriani: the personal guarantors who stood security for the contractor Valerius, under whose name the money had been advanced. Cicero's experts ruled the debt could not be shifted to Volusius, so these sureties stayed legally liable.
