person
Vettius (adviser on the Palatine wall)
Vettius
A man named Vettius whom Cicero suggests Atticus call in over the building wall by his Palatine palaestra in 59 BC, apparently as a practical adviser or surveyor. Possibly, but not certainly, the political informer L. Vettius of the same year; kept distinct pending confirmation.
Reading notes
- Ad Atticum 2.4 §7 call in Vettius
A Vettius called in as a practical adviser or surveyor about the building wall; the context (a wall, a builder's judgement) does not obviously fit L. Vettius the political informer of 59 BC, so he is kept as a separate, uncertain figure.
