Zopyrus

A physiognomist who claimed to read men's characters from their bodies. Cicero (De Fato 10) reports that he pronounced Socrates dull and lustful from his appearance, drawing a laugh from Alcibiades, to show that natural tendencies can be overcome.

Zopyrus, a physiognomist who read character from bodily features, charged Socrates with many vices before a crowd. Socrates admitted them inborn but said reason had cast them out.
