A municipium in Campania, situated between Capua and Neapolis (modern Sant'Arpino). Held ager vectigalis (revenue-bearing public land) in Cisalpine Gaul; the threatened taxation of that land is the subject of Fam. 13.7. The town had long-standing ties of gratitude to Cicero.

Atella was a municipium in Campania (between Capua and Neapolis). Like several Italian towns, it held ager vectigalis --- revenue-bearing public land --- in regions outside Campania, in this case in Cisalpine Gaul; Cicero is lobbying for that land's fiscal status to be preserved.
