Cicero dates his arrival at Ephesus (22 July 51 BC) from the affray at Bovillae on the Appian Way (18 Jan. 52 BC) in which Clodius was killed by Milo's slaves --- a private, almost playful era marking how long he has been away from the Rome of that sensational event.
