Town on the bay of Naples (later buried by Vesuvius in AD 79). In Fam. 9.25 the 'Herculanean estate' jointly owned by M. and Q. Fadius, advertised for forced sale, is the object of the brothers' dispute.

The dispute concerns a property at Herculaneum on the bay of Naples held jointly by the brothers M. and Q. Fadius. Q. Fadius's posting it for forced sale ('proscriptum') threatens M. Fadius, and Cicero asks Paetus, as a local man of influence, to use his authority and standing to prevent the brothers going to law.
