Neapolis

Neapolis, the fourth of the four quarters of ancient Syracuse, the inland "new city" north-west of Achradina, containing the Greek theatre and the famous quarries (latomiae) used as a state prison (Verr. 2.4.119). Distinct from the Italian Neapolis.
