The old harbour and shore district south of Athens. In De Finibus 5.5 Lucius recalls going down to the Phaleric shore, where Demosthenes was said to have declaimed against the surf to train his voice.

Phalerum was the old harbour district south of Athens. Tradition held that Demosthenes practised speaking there against the noise of the surf to strengthen his delivery.
