Piraeus

The principal harbour of Athens, some 10 km southwest of the city. In May 45 BC M. Claudius Marcellus (cos. 51) was murdered near the Piraeus by his companion P. Magius Cilo, as reported by Servius Sulpicius Rufus in Ad Fam. 4.12.
