The temple of Apollo just outside the pomerium near the Circus Flaminius, where the Senate could meet to allow generals holding imperium (such as Pompey) to attend without crossing into the city. The setting of the February 56 BC Senate sessions on the riots.

The temple of Apollo lay just outside the pomerium (the city's sacred boundary). The Senate met there so Pompey, who held imperium for his grain command, could attend without forfeiting it by crossing into the city.
