Reading notes
- Tusculan Disputations §3.53 those very lines about Andromache
Ennius's tragedy Andromacha, whose lament 'All this I saw' (haec omnia vidi) over fallen Troy Cicero quotes repeatedly in this book as the type of recent, vivid grief. The captives could have sung the same lines.
