Plato's dialogue on love and rhetoric, in which proper method requires first defining the subject under discussion. Cicero says Epicurus approved this principle of definition but failed to apply it consistently.
- Tusculan Disputations §1.53 which Socrates sets out in the \textit{Phaedrus} and which I placed in the sixth book of the \textit{Republic}
The proof of the soul's immortality from its being self-moving, given in Plato's Phaedrus (245c-e); Cicero translated it into the Somnium Scipionis at the end of his own De Re Publica Book 6, and quotes that Latin version here.
