Plato's dialogue on the making of the cosmos by a divine craftsman (the Demiurge). Velleius attacks its god 'the craftsman and builder of the world,' and Cicero himself made a partial Latin translation of it.

Plato's Timaeus describes the cosmos as fashioned by a divine craftsman (the Demiurge) from pre-existing matter. Velleius rejects this maker-god as a philosopher's daydream.
