The personified goddess Liberty. After Cicero's exile Clodius razed his Palatine house and consecrated the site with a shrine and statue of Libertas, a 'religious dedication' the College of Pontiffs ruled in 57 BC could be lifted, clearing the way for the house's restitution (Att. 4.1-4.2).

After razing Cicero's house Clodius had consecrated the ground with a statue and shrine of Libertas (Liberty), placing it under religious interdict. Lifting that 'religion' was the legal precondition for restoring the property.

After razing Cicero's house Clodius dedicated the site to Libertas (Liberty), installing a statue and a portico to make the ground religiously inviolable. Cicero reveals the statue to be a Greek courtesan's image looted from a tomb near Tanagra --- a false goddess for a false consecration.
