Reading notes
- Ad M. Brutum 1.17 §1 in the matter of Casca he is imitating Bestia
Lucius Calpurnius Bestia was a tribune of the plebs in 62 BC who attacked Cicero over the Catilinarian executions, even though Bestia himself had supported Catiline; Brutus draws the parallel that Cicero attacking Casca for killing Caesar is as two-faced as Bestia attacking Cicero for killing Catilinarians.
