Manius Curius

M'. Curius

A gambler and Antonian juror, bench-mate and gaming-mate of the Athenian Lysiades on Antony's third panel of jurors. Cicero scorns him as one 'who takes his chance with Fortune every day.'

Manius Curius Dentatus, the hero of the Samnite and Pyrrhic wars (cos. 290 BC), proverbial for old Roman frugality and indifference to riches. Cicero invokes him as the byword for plain living that Epicurus sometimes seems to echo.
