Reading notes
- Ad Atticum 4.2 §4 M. Lucullus
M. Terentius Varro Lucullus (consul 73 BC), a senior pontiff and brother of the great Lucullus. He drew the crucial distinction: the priests judged the religious question, the Senate the legal one.
- On the Ends of Good and Evil §3.7 library of young Lucullus
The boy is the son of M. Terentius Varro Lucullus, whose guardianship Cicero had partly assumed; the well-stocked library is at the Lucullan villa near Tusculum. Cato is found there absorbed in the Stoic books it contained.
