Equestrian agent (pro magistro) of the Roman publican company that held the contract on the scriptura, the pasturage-tax of the Asian provinces. A long-standing intimate of Cicero, recommended to P. Silius in 51--50 BC for help in concluding settlement-agreements (pactiones) with the cities of Bithynia.

Publius Terentius Hispo acted as pro magistro, the on-site manager of the Roman tax-farming company that held the contract on the harbour dues and the scriptura (the levy on grazing) of the province of Asia. Such publicani were the equestrian financiers who collected Rome's provincial revenues.
