Pharnaces II of Pontus

Pharnaces

King of the Cimmerian Bosporus, son of Mithridates VI; he invaded Asia Minor during Caesar's absence and was crushed by Caesar at Zela in 47 BC (the 'veni, vidi, vici' campaign). Named in Fam. 15.15 as the unexpected terror that prolonged the civil war.
