Reading notes
- Ad Atticum 10.2 §1 we might be in a more out-of-the-way spot
Cicero halted at his brother Quintus's estate at Arcanum, near Arpinum in the hills, to avoid notice while he decided whether to join Pompey. Movement by senators of his rank was watched by Caesar's agents, so a secluded inland villa was safer than the coast road.
