Laodicea ad Lycum, a Hellenistic city of southwestern Phrygia (modern Denizli province), at the meeting of major trade routes and the chief assize town of the Cibyratic conventus. Cicero held assize there in his Cilician proconsulship (Ad fam. 3.5 etc.); under Flaccus it was the scene of the Lycia and Phrygia depositions, and the public flogging episode of Verr. 2.1.76.

Laodicea ad Lycum, the administrative centre of the Cibyratic conventus in Cicero's province; Cicero planned to deposit his financial sureties there before departing, avoiding the risk of transporting public monies by sea.
