War with the Cimbri and Teutones

Cimbric War

also: Cimbricae victoriae, Cimbric victory, bellum Cimbricum

The campaigns of 113-101 BC against the migrating Germanic Cimbri and Teutones, culminating in the Roman victory at Vercellae (101 BC) won by Gaius Marius together with his colleague Quintus Lutatius Catulus. Cicero contrasts Marius's shared triumph here with his later cruelty toward Catulus in the civil war.
