Festival celebrated at Syracuse in honour of the Claudii Marcelli, hereditary patrons of the city since its capture by M. Claudius Marcellus in 212 BC. Verres abolished the Marcellia and instituted in its place the self-glorifying Verria (In Verrem 2.2).
